How do I schedule activities?

Why does Ella do it this way? Why should I care?

From holidays to snow now days to different learning speeds, scheduling a single lesson can be a daunting task; at Ella, we believe it shouldn't be. Scheduling in Ella makes room for flexibility and unexpected changes, actually aiding teachers rather than hindering them.

One of the most important ways Ella does this is by taking into account multi-section courses. Rather than forcing teachers to create and schedule sections individually, Ella allows teachers to schedule activities for all of their sections at the same time. Teachers can easily schedule according to their needs and the needs of their students in Ella.

Instructions

Refer to this "Scheduling in Ella" presentation and instructions below to schedule your first activities.

  1. Find your unscheduled activities on the left side of your screen in the "Schedule" tab.
  2. Find the first lesson you created and click the "Schedule" button.
  3. Select whether this activity is scheduled for all sections or needs customization under "Apply for". If you only teach one section of your course, select "All sections."
  4. Determine when the activity will be delivered. If you selected "Customize" above, determine if/when the activity will be delivered for each section.
  5. Click "Done."
  6. Then, find the first assignment you created and click the "Schedule" button.
  7. Follow steps 3-5. Instead of determining when the activity will be delivered, select when it will be assigned and when it will be due.
  8. Then, find the first test you created and click the "Schedule" button.
  9. Follow steps 3-5. Instead of determining when the activity will be delivered, select when it will be announced and when it will be taken.
Congratulations! You have scheduled the first activities for your course. From now on, you can schedule activities as you create them using the "Create and Schedule" button or continuing scheduling from this tab.
