How do I create a lesson?

Modified on Thu, 08 Jun 2023 at 01:22 PM

Before we begin, let's consider some important questions: Why does Ella do it this way? Why should I care?

Ella is designed to improve student engagement and grades, strengthen executive functioning skills, and make teachers' lives infinitely easier. Lessons are a key way Ella achieves that.

Unlike other LMS's, Ella acknowledges the importance of having all of your materials in front of you as you teach. Lessons in Ella incorporate spaces for resources, worksheets, assignments, lessons plans, and whatever else you have up your sleeve. You can type plans and paste links directly into the "content" session, attach Google Docs and files that you plan to use, and even point out which activities are related to the content you are going over.

Instructions

Refer to this "Creating Lessons in Ella" presentation and instructions below to create a lesson.

  1. Click the "Create an Activity" button underneath your first unit in the "Plan" tab of your course.
  2. Then, enter the name name & duration of your lesson.
  3. Enter content for your lesson. This can include a lesson plan, links to resources, images, and more.
  4. Attach relevant files from Google Drive and/or your computer. If you create lesson plans outside of Ella, attach them here.
  5. Add related activities. You may not have any for your first lesson, but you likely will next time you create an activity!
  6. Click the arrow next to the top right "Create and Schedule" button. Select "Create."

Congratulations! You have created a lesson for your course. View it under your first unit in the "Plan" tab of your course.
